| Penha Longa now has a
new 9 hole golf course called Mosteiro (Monastery) offering an alternative
to the existing course.

The new nine hole for a Par 35 course extends over 2,588 metres. The main features are hole 4, near the Hotel and hole 9, with a magnificent view over the Penha Longa Palace, situated in an ancient monastery building. Designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones II (also responsible for the original course), the Mosteiro is less undulating then the Atlantico course where Portugal's two Open Golf championships have taken place, and so presents fewer difficulties for the player. Yet it is a course that requires high handicaps and challenges players with its fast greens and narrow fairways. Lakes give Mosteiro a special beauty, especially near holes, 4,5 and 8 where the romantic Sintra mountain range also accompanies the player. |
